Mission & Vision: Committed to fostering community engagement and ensuring that local voices shape the future of North Bolivar.
The North Bolivar Community Advisory Council (NBCAC) will serve as a bridge between the Winstonville Community Foundation (WCF) and the broader community, ensuring that community needs and perspectives are represented in WCF’s work. This council will help shape initiatives, strengthen partnerships, and expand the foundation’s reach into surrounding areas.
1. Purpose & Role
The North Bolivar Community Advisory Council (NBCAC) exists to:
- Provide input and feedback on community needs, priorities, and emerging opportunities.
- Act as a liaison between the WCF and the communities it serves.
- Support outreach and engagement efforts to ensure WCF’s programs reflect community priorities.
- Assist in identifying funding opportunities and strategic partnerships.
- Advocate for WCF’s mission and initiatives within their networks.
2. Structure & Membership
Membership Composition
The North Bolivar Community Advisory Council (NBCAC) will consist of 10-15 members, from the five North Bolivar communities, representing diverse sectors and perspectives, including:
- Community leaders (e.g., faith-based, civic groups, local advocates)
- Business owners and entrepreneurs
- Educators and youth advocates
- Nonprofit and social services professionals
- Local government representatives (if applicable)
- Residents from Winstonville and surrounding areas
- Former residents who were born and raised in the area and still have strong ties to the community
Membership Criteria
- Passionate about community development and well-being
- Reside or work within Winstonville or surrounding areas
- Willing to serve as an ambassador for WCF
- Able to commit to quarterly meetings and occasional engagement activities
3. Responsibilities & Expectations
Council Members Will:
✅ Attend quarterly meetings (virtual or in-person)
✅ Provide insights and feedback on WCF initiatives
✅ Help identify community challenges and opportunities
✅ Promote WCF initiatives within their networks
✅ Support special projects, fundraising efforts, or partnerships
Council Members Will Not:
❌ Have decision-making authority over WCF operations or governance
❌ Be financially responsible for WCF programs
❌ Be required to contribute funds to WCF
4. Meetings & Communication
- Frequency: Quarterly meetings (four per year)
- Format: Hybrid (in-person & virtual options)
- Additional Engagement:
- Special listening sessions as needed
- Annual community impact summit
- Group chat or email updates for ongoing communication
