Winstonville Community Foundation (WCF)

  • Board of Directors
    • Provides governance and strategic oversight for WCF and its affiliated entities.
  • Executive Director
    • Oversee daily operations and ensures alignment with WCF’s mission.
  • North Bolivar Community Advisory Council (NBCAC)
    • Serves as a liaison between the community and WCF.
    • Provides insights and recommendations on community needs and initiatives.
  • Mississippi Delta Economic Development Corporation (MDEDC)
    • Focuses on regional economic development projects.
    • Attracts investments and fosters economic growth in the Mississippi Delta region.
  • Business Builders Incubator (BBI)
    • Supports startups and small businesses.
    • Provides resources, mentorship, and space to nurture entrepreneurial ventures.

In this structure, the WCF serves as the central organization, with the NBCAC, MDEDC, and BBI operating as affiliated entities under its umbrella. Each entity maintains a degree of operational independence but aligns with the overarching mission and strategic direction set by the WCF Board of Directors.

Key Relationships:

  • NBCAC: Engages with community members to gather feedback and advises the WCF on local priorities and concerns.
  • MDEDC: Collaborates with external partners and investors to drive economic initiatives that benefit the region.
  • BBI: Works closely with entrepreneurs, offering them the necessary tools and support to succeed, thereby contributing to the local economy.

This integrated approach ensures that all entities work synergistically towards the common goal of community enhancement and economic prosperity in Winstonville and the surrounding areas.

Executive Board (Voting Members) (available positions 7 – 9)

This core group will have decision-making authority and fiduciary responsibilities. Roles include:

  • Chair/President – Leads the board and represents the foundation. (Filled)
  • Vice Chair/Vice President – Supports the Chair and leads in their absence.
  • Secretary – Manages board records and meeting minutes.
  • Treasurer – Oversees financial management.
  • 5 – 7 Board Members-at-Large – Individuals with expertise in areas like law, finance, fundraising, community development, etc.

5 – 9 Advisory Board (Non-Voting Members) (Open)(May serve on committees)

  • Ideal for high-profile or influential individuals who can lend their expertise without the time commitment of a full board role.
  • May include community leaders, past board members, or specialists in economic development, education, and nonprofit management.
  • Can provide strategic guidance and serve as ambassadors for WCF.

Honorary Board (Open)

  • A recognition-based group for distinguished supporters, philanthropists, or public figures.
  • Limited or no governance responsibilities.
  • Helps with visibility and credibility.

Standing Committees (Ongoing Responsibilities)

Passionate individuals who want to be involved in leadership but aren’t on the executive board can serve in key committees:

Governance Committee

  • Helps recruit and onboard new board members.
  • Ensures board training and engagement.

Finance & Audit Committee

  • Works with the Treasurer to oversee financial policies, audits, and budgets.
  • Ensures financial sustainability.

Fundraising & Development Committee

  • Leads grant writing, donor relations, and sponsorship initiatives.
  • Organizes fundraising events and campaigns.

Programs & Impact Committee

  • Evaluates and oversees the success of WCF programs.
  • Helps design and assess new community initiatives.

Marketing & Communications Committee

  • Manages public relations, branding, social media, and website content.
  • Creates outreach materials to promote WCF.

Economic Development & Business Partnerships Committee

  • Builds relationships with local businesses, economic developers, and workforce training programs.
  • Supports initiatives like the planned EDC.

Community Engagement & Volunteer Committee (Residents)

  • Strengthens relationships with community members.
  • Recruits and manages volunteers for WCF programs.

Junior Board or Emerging Leaders Program

  • A way to engage young professionals or next-generation leaders.
  • Provides mentorship opportunities and a leadership pipeline for future board members.
